“Dyslexias” the term refers to the various learning disorders found in children with normal intelligence but having problems in learning specific skills. This learning disability is termed as “developmental disability” while Dyslexias describes the state which is life long and is attributed to mental and physical impairment. This is basically manifested in youngsters prior to their reaching 18 years of age. It is believed that such specific difficulties in learning, reading and writing may lead to under achievement in school. Dyslexias are of various types and include hyper activity and hearing problems which interferes with the person’s ability to learn.

Dyslexias are diagnosed as a disorder that affects a person’s ability to either interpret what they see and hear or link information from various segments of the brain. Such limitations are characterized by difficulty in reading, writing and arithmetic. This basic psychological disorder is primarily manifested when the person has problems with comprehending or using language, spoken or written. This is revealed when the Dyslexic person is unable to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell and calculate sums perfectly.

Dyslexias are a part of several disorders in which a person has difficulty in learning within a conventional atmosphere and is basically due to various factors which are yet to be fully researched. For those affected by Dyslexias it become problematic as they are unable to learn or grasp as quickly or in the same way as others who are unaffected by such disorders. This disability does not indicate low level of intelligence. Scientific studies have revealed that those suffering from Dyslexias have trouble performing specific skills or completing the assigned task independently.

Curing dyslexia is difficult but it can it be improved. With right support and intervention, children having such impairments can succeed in school and become a thorough professional later in life. The heterogeneous group of disorders in Dyslexias is intrinsic to the individual and is presumed to be due to central nervous system dysfunction. It is a term that indicates the discrepancy between a child’s apparent capacity to learn and his / her achievement level.

Dyslexias are classified either as information processing inability or specific difficulties arising due to processing problems. The information processing learning disability is categorized as input, integration, storage and output. Input suggests the information perceived through the senses like visual and auditory perception. Impairment of visual perception may cause problem with recognizing shape, position and size of seen items.

Difficulties with auditory perception make it complicated to screen out competing sounds and make the dyslexic person focus on one of them like the sound of teacher’s voice. In case of integration information processing problem, students are unable to tell a story in the correct sequence, they are also unable to memorize sequences and information, unable to generalize new concept in other areas of learning and cannot put facts together to see the ultimate picture. Most of these students have poor vocabulary and comprehension problem.

Difficulties with visual memory impede spelling. Output information comes from the brain either through words (language) or through gesturing, writing and drawing. Difficulties with language output create problems with answering a question for lack of fine motor skills.
